Our Mission:
Is to recognize, appreciate and celebrate the cultural and economic significance of blueberries, blueberry production and agritourism in the Southwest Michigan region by holding an annual National Blueberry Festival. To promote the education and future of agriculture in Southwest Michigan.
National Blueberry Festival
The National Blueberry Festival is held on the second weekend of August each year, and is one of the country's oldest continuously-running fruit festivals! We're proud of South Haven's tremendous blueberry crop, and the important industry it represents in our area. Van Buren County is the Nation's most prolific producer of highbush blueberries, and Michigan as a whole produces upward of 100 million pounds each year. Growers, packers, u-picks, specialty equipment, agritourism, cottage industry and more convene right here in Southwest Michigan, and it's all thanks to the delicious and healthy king of fruits- the almighty blueberry!

South Haven's Signature Event Since 1963!
In 1963 a group of South Havenites got together to plan a small event to celebrate the Blueberry harvest. South Haven is the epicenter of highbush blueberry production, and a large part of our economy and cultural heritage is connected with the prominence of agriculture in the region. Combined with the blueberry's charms of being beautiful, delicious and oh-so healthy, the National Blueberry Festival quickly became a very popular and successful event! The early festivals were largely focused on baking competitions, recipe exchanges and the ever-popular National Blueberry Festival parade.
The National Blueberry Festival has evolved and grown over the years, but its core mission remains the same- to celebrate South Haven, our agriculture, and that almighty king of berries, the BLUEBERRY! Each year we revel in the opportunity to welcome visitors and friends to South Haven to take part in this celebration, whether it is their first time or their 57th!
A small team of people work on this event all year ‘round to ensure that the National Blueberry Festival continues to remain healthy and vibrant. Our continued growth resulted in hiring our very first staff member in 2015! To learn more about our board and staff, click HERE.
The National Blueberry Festival Committee would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the generous sponsors of the National Blueberry Festival. Without your support, this event would not be possible. We’re very excited about the 57th Annual National Blueberry Festival August 6-9th, 2020, and we would like to extend a personal invitation for you and your family to join us for the festival this year!
